OBJECTIVE

Design a series of 11×17 in. gig posters for an assigned band every two weeks. Concept must be representative of the band, their music, or their style.

PROCESS

For each poster, I researched and gathered as much information as I could about the bands. These posters show the results of my research in which the imagery is representative of the style of music that each band plays. Explosions in the Sky uses abstraction and geometric shapes to tie in with the instrumental nature of their music. It also comes together to show different elements of a guitar and portray sound in an undercoded way. Fitz and the Tantrums uses bright colors and a random cut out style to illustrate the electric and pop sound that they are most known for. Gary Clark Jr. uses compelling illustration to represent the Blues genre of music setting the tone for a more depressing and melancholy aesthetic.

Each poster showcases a different design skill. Explosions in the Sky shows proficiency of geometric abstraction. Fitz and the Tantrums features effective manipulation of photography. Gary Clark Jr. highlights illustrative ability.
